This scheme is intended to replace the IRS and RES.

Retirement in Mauritius made easy

Mauritius offers a ‘retirement permit’ for non-citizens aged 50 and over, which is very advantageous for senior citizens wishing to live out their retirement in Mauritius. This permit is valid for ten years and can be renewed. Family members are also eligible for the same period.
To familiarise themselves with Mauritian life, seniors can also apply for a Premium visa, which is valid for 6 to 12 months and renewable.

Good to know : How can I become a retired expatriate in Mauritius?

To reside in Mauritius under the retired non-citizen status, the following criteria must be met:

• Minimum age: Must be at least 50 years old.
• Initial transfer: Make an initial transfer of at least USD 1,500 (or equivalent in convertible currency) to a Mauritian bank account within 60 days of the permit issuance.
• Monthly transfers: Transfer a minimum of USD 2,000 per month (USD 24,000 per year) to the Mauritian bank account for the entire validity period of the permit.
• Minimum residence: Reside in Mauritius for at least 180 days per year.
• Permanent residence permit: After 3 years of continuous residence and a total transfer of at least USD 54,000 (or equivalent), it is possible to apply for a permanent residence permit valid for 20 years.

The residence permit is valid for 10 years and is renewable. To renew it, the required transfers must continue and the minimum stay requirement must be respected.

Dependents (spouse and children under 24) can be included in the application.
