BAIE DU CAP BEACH CLEAN-UP

29 Jan 2018

Anbalaba is an IRS programme that is different in many ways. As shown by the activities organised with the residents of Baie du Cap to help preserve it, such as the beach clean-up on 27 August.

Preserving the beauty of the wild South and being proud of the local environment were the driving ideas of this clean-up day. Organised in partnership with the NGO Mission Verte, the event brought together young volunteers from DOFE Mauritius - Sud Ouest (Fondation Espoir et Développement) as well as residents and local figures of Baie du Cap on Sunday 27 August from 7:30 am, to clear the beach of all its waste from the Saint-François d’Assise church to the jetty. A community moment full of good humour and friendliness, which gave the beach back its shine.

The NGO Mission Verte took the opportunity to raise participants' awareness of the impact of plastic waste on the environment and of the need to work towards a cleaner island. A real success, this operation, which will certainly be repeated in the coming months, proves that exchange, sharing and respect for the environment are unifying values that Anbalaba is particularly proud to uphold.
