Anbalaba Social Community: a foundation in the heart of Baie du Cap

When Bouigue Développement, the developer of Domaine d'Anbalaba, chose Baie du Cap, it immediately positioned itself as a different and innovative property development.

Accessible to both Mauritian and foreign buyers, it offers a unique living experience where respect for the environment and social integration are at the heart of the development.

The Domaine d'Anbalaba has set up its own foundation within the village itself, with the main aims of forging links between all stakeholders, improving the habitat and the social and cultural environment, and promoting local talent.

I joined the Anbalaba team in May 2021 with the mission of setting up a social project aimed at the development and fulfilment of the Baie du Cap/Choisy community, with the additional objective of linking the village to the Anbalaba Estate, in order to create a quality social and urban environment for all residents.

As head of the Anbalaba Foundation, I'm delighted to be able to bring you regular news and photos of the activities organised by the Foundation for children aged 5 to 12, pre-teens, young people and adults.

A full programme is planned between now and the end of the year, which you can find on our Facebook page!

The mission of the Anbalaba Social Community foundation is to revitalise the villages of Baie du Cap and the neighbouring villages of Choisy and Saint Martin, to create links and bring moments of shared happiness to all: village inhabitants, estate residents, guests of the ecolodge and restaurant.

The aim is to build a large, sustainable and authentic community based on sharing, solidarity and conviviality.

For the past three years, Domaine d'Anbalaba has been working alongside the Mauritian NGO Drip. This mutual investment has led to the setting up of educational activities, prevention sessions on alcohol, drugs and various forms of violence, as well as cultural and sporting activities for children and their parents. Young adults from the village also benefit from vocational training.

The Makondé association was created in 2023 as a result of collaboration between our foundation, Drip and volunteer residents of Baie du Cap.

Its purpose is to pursue the objectives identified in 2021 at the start of our collaboration, with a view to long-term community development. It will also have to perpetuate the activities implemented since 2022 for children, young people and adults.

In 2024, our foundation's actions will benefit 155 children aged 5 to 14, 30 teenagers and 80 parents.

A few words from Hippolyte Bouigue, CEO of Bouigue Développement

Hippolyte Bouigue

Domaine d'Anbalaba is committed to creating infrastructures that encourage a place of life and exchange between villagers, residents and visitors.
This integration into the local community reflects my family's attachment to Mauritius and its people, encouraging the harmonious development of Baie du Cap and the region.

Domaine d'Anbalaba is a real place where villagers, estate residents and visitors come together. The foundation promotes the social and cultural development of Baie du Cap, not to mention the fact that the Domaine makes a point of recruiting its site, restaurant and maintenance staff from Baie du Cap and the surrounding area.
